VBO V4 Deploy and Config Guide – Part 3

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to part three of this series on how to get started with Veeam Backup for Office 365 V4.

Today, we are going to look at how easy it is to install VBO V4 onto a Windows Server 2016.

If you haven’t already, please see the below link to download a trial of the latest version of VBO.

Once you have downloaded the software to the host you would like to deploy VBO, please follow the below guide:

Section 1: Pre-Requisites

NOTE: It is assumed that you are using a vanilla Windows Server 2016 build, this will mean that you will be required to download and install .NET Framework 4.7.2

Step 1: Download .NET Framework from Microsoft.

Step 2: Find the location of the installer download and launch the installer executable and click Run.

Step 3: Wait for the files to extract.

Step 4: Sit back and relax while Microsoft does all the hard work (HAHA) but no, seriously it’s a good time to get a coffee 😊.

Step 5: Congratulations! Once the installer is finished, click Finish to end the install.

Section 2: VBO Server Install

Step 1: Locate your VBO install files and extract the zip file locally. Once extracted, launch the Veeam.Backup365 executable (at the time of writing the current version was 4.0.0.1345.)

Step 2: Select Run on the Microsoft Security Warning screen.

Step 3: Now the fun can begin, click Next to begin.

Step 4: Please read and accept the EULA and click Next to continue.

Step 5: Ensure all components are selected and click Next.

Step 6: On the ready to install page click Install.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If your machine does not meet the minimum requirements you will get prompted with a warning message however, the installer will continue. Click OK to continue.

Step 7: Sit back and relax!

Step 8: Once completed you will get a Congratulations page. Click Finish to close the installer.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You have now successfully deployed VBO V4! In the next two sections, we will explore how easy it is to install the Veeam Explorer for Exchange and the Veeam Explorer for SharePoint.

Section 3: Veeam Explorer for Exchange

Step 1: Navigate to your extracted installer files and run the VeeamExplorerForExchange executable.

Step 2: Select Run on the Microsoft Security Warning screen.

Step 3: On the setup wizard screen click Next.

Step 4: Please read and accept the EULA and click Next to continue.

Step 5: Ensure all components are selected and select Next.

Step 6: Click Install to start the installation.

Step 7: Sit back and relax.

Step 8: Once the installer is completed you can click Finish to close the installer.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You have now successfully deployed Veeam Explorer for Exchange! In the next and final section for this post we will explore how easy it is to install the final component; Veeam Explorer for SharePoint.

Section 4: Veeam Explorer for SharePoint

Step 1: Navigate to your extracted installer files and run the VeeamExplorerForSharePoint executable.

Step 2: Select Run on the Microsoft Security Warning screen.

Step 3: On the setup wizard screen click Next.

Step 4: Please read and accept the EULA and click Next to continue.

Step 5: Ensure all components are selected and select Next.

Step 6: Click Install to start the installation.

Step 7: Sit back and relax.

Step 8: Once the installer is completed you can click Finish to close the installer.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You have now successfully deployed Veeam Explorer for SharePoint.! This marks the end of the installation of Veeam Backup for Office 365. In the next blog, we will learn how to navigate the software we just installed and how to connect to an Office 365 environment.
