In this blog post, we are going to have a look at an update that went relatively unnoticed with all of the fanfare of Windows 11. However, I feel this was an important update and Microsoft has listened to consumers who said they wanted the traditional software procurement option in Lui of the Software-as-a-service (SaaS) business model that Microsoft uses with Microsoft 365 Home, Business and Enterprise.
Why is this important you ask? well, it shows that Microsoft has been listening to consumers who are not looking to make long term commitments but still want to have access to up-to-date software. Obviously, this model will never have the same time feature parity as its Microsoft 365 counterpart however many consumers do not have a requirement for the full suite that Microsoft 365 offers for home users.
The last major release of Office was in 2019 so the release of Office 2021 brings in many features and enhancements that have been added to the SaaS offerings over those years.
Next, we will look at how quickly and easily it is to install Microsoft Office 2021 on a Windows 10 machine.
